NPCI is reportedly developing a new offline UPI payment system that could allow customers to make tap-and-pay transactions without internet access. Designed for locations with poor connectivity, the feature would use NFC-enabled PoS terminals and UPI Lite wallets, potentially expanding digital payments to aircraft, metro networks and other offline environments.
